Making things with my hands has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. But what I love even more is giving those things away!
Don’t you just love the look on someone’s face when you give them a gift you’ve poured your heart, creativity and love into?
We live in a world hungry for attention and recognition.
Be that person who slows down and listens to the needs of others, who looks for opportunities to give encouragement to someone.
Then ask yourself how you can use the gifts and talents you have to brighten their day.
But what if I’m not talented or creative??
Oh, I would beg to differ with you!
Think back on what you liked to do as a child…
One of my first memories of being creative was making mud pies in the front garden. I “baked” all kinds of pies and served them to my family. Little did I know that baking would one day be one of my favorite things to do!
And then when I was five, my mother took me to my first art class…
The teacher gave us a long-stemmed goblet and a handful of beautiful gem stones – ruby red, blue sapphire, emerald green. We glued our pretty stones to the outside of the goblet and took them out into the sunlight.
The sparkling jewels came to life right before my very eyes! My heart leapt as if I were holding the world’s most exquisite jeweled crown.
In that moment, I was hooked.
It was the beginning of a lifetime of making things with my hands.
What memories come to your mind?
There are soooo many ways to be creative.
Did you write poems as a child? Then write notes of encouragement to someone today!
Do you get euphoric just hanging out in the tool department at Home Depot? Then learn to build something simple with your hands and give it away.
What about kitchen gadgets? Do they just make you giddy? Then learn to make something delicious and share it with a friend!
You get the point, right?
I thought so.
If you love to make cards and other paper crafty things, or if you’ve never tried it and want to give it a shot, then you’re in the right place!
